Mourdock’s New Ad Hits Back At Lugar Claims

Indiana Senate hopeful Richard Mourdock is hoping his veteran opponent’s attack ads against him will rebound.

In a new radio spot, Mourdock says six-term incumbent Sen. Dick Lugar’s ads have been slammed as “misleading,” “an exaggeration,” and “straining the facts” by the independent Factcheck.org.

“Dick Lugar is so desperate to stay in Washington that he’s resorting to false negative attacks,” the woman’s voice in Mourdock’s ad says.

It then stresses the length of time that Lugar has been in the Upper Chamber, repeating the words “36 years” in three separate sentences.

“Dick Lugar lost touch with Hoosier conservative values and became Obama’s favorite Republican,” the ad continues before listing a string of Democrat measures, such as votes for Supreme Court appointees, amnesty for illegal immigrants, higher government spending and bailouts.

“Incredibly Lugar even proposed a $1-a-gallon gas tax,” the ad concludes.
Last week Mourdock demanded Lugar remove TV ads from a supporting super PAC that accused him of accepting illegal property tax breaks. The same PAC has also claimed Mourdock oversaw pension funds that lost millions of dollars.
