Chanting protesters, carrying beer cans and red cups, threw a Brett Kavanaugh “confirmation kegger” outside the Washington home of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the HuffPost reported.
The demonstrators chanted “chug” and carried posters in opposition to Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court.
“Essentially, we just think he’s a frat boy,” protest organizer Jennifer Flynn Walker told the HuffPost.
“We had a Kavanaugh confirmation kegger and we had some beer and red Solo party cups,” said Walker, director of mobilization and advocacy at the Center for Popular Democracy. “We had some sunglasses and celebrated Beach Week, Georgetown Prep Beach Week. We yelled ‘beer’ and ‘chug’ and then we stopped.”
Walker said the protest reflected the absurdity of Kavanaugh’s testimony last week before the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he repeatedly mentioned his fondness for beer.
Meanwhile President Donald Trump said demonstrators protesting the Kavanaugh nomination at Senate office buildings are “paid professionals” backed by financier George Soros.
“The very rude elevator screamers are paid professionals only looking to make Senators look bad,” Trump wrote in a tweet Friday. “Don’t fall for it! Also, look at all of the professionally made identical signs. Paid for by Soros and others.”
