Most millennials disapprove of the way President Donald Trump is handling his job — and have an unfavorable view of the GOP — but they are not all that excited about Democrats either, a new poll shows.
The NBC News/GenForward Survey released Wednesday found 64 percent of millennials disapprove of Trump's job performance, and 58 percent have a poor view of the Republican Party.
But only 43 percent of millennials have a favorable view of the Democratic Party. And though 53 percent said the party cares about people like them, 46 percent said just the opposite, the poll found.
According to the survey, only three in 10 millennials said the Republican Party cares about people like them.
The poll also found 41 percent of all millennials are not sure which party they will vote for in the 2018 midterm elections; 37 percent said they will pull the lever for Democrats; 21 percent said they will vote Republican.
In other findings, the poll found:
- In a breakdown by race, at least half of each African-American, Asian-American, and Latino subgroup, millennials had a favorable view of Democrats. But 31 percent of African-American, 30 percent of Asian-American, and 37 percent of Latino millennials said the party does not care about people like them.
- 54 percent of white millennials hold unfavorable views of the Democratic Party; 53 percent have that view of Republicans.
- 60 percent of white millennials said the GOP does not care about people like them, while 55 percent said the Democratic Party does not care about people like them.
- 33 percent of millennials said neither party cares about people like them.
The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
