Like Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg can go "all the way" to the White House, according to American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten.
"I don't want to be heretical, but there's another independent in the race who was a Republican and now a Democrat, and that's Michael Bloomberg," Weingarten told Greta Van Susteren, The Hill reported. "I could see both of them going all the way."
Weingarten's union officially endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Sanders had attended an AFT town hall last April, well before Bloomberg entered the race.
"Elections are about choices, and I'm really glad Bernie Sanders is here," Weingarten said then, per the report. "He's on the side of workers and fights for good jobs."
Sanders has since faced opposition from another union, Nevada's Culinary Union, which claimed Sanders supporters "viciously attacked" it over its opposition to Medicare for All.
Sanders' signature government-run healthcare proposal has been rejected by unions for its giving medical care to Americans, while union workers have had to pay for it for years.
