One GOP lawmaker sent a letter to President Barack Obama last week with a simple message about alleged election-meddling by the Russian government — prove it.
Mike Turner, R-Ohio, and a member of the House Intelligence Committee, is demanding the administration turn over unclassified documents that prove Russia has interfered in foreign elections, here and across Europe, The Wall Street Journal reported.
"The fact that the administration is picking and choosing the information it releases and who they release it to ought to give everybody concern that the administration is manipulating this," Turner was quoted by the Journal.
The White House has released a classified version but Turner is pushing for full transparency for public distribution.
"It's mind-boggling that the administration is pushing unnamed CIA sources, when the intel community is giving briefings that don't correspond to the information we're reading in the newspapers," Turner said, according to the Journal.
Turner was referencing the report that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) — as well as the FBI — does not share the CIA's assessment that the Russians interfered with the election.
