Rep. Mike Quigley, D-Ill., called into question a number of testimonies that occurred during the House of Representatives' Intelligence Committee investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Quigley said he was not surprised new information about meetings between Trump officials and foreign nationals keep being revealed. He referenced the admission from a Qatari investor, Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, that he went to Trump Tower to meet with Donald Trump administration officials in December 2016, which CNN reported Tuesday.
"Since the Republicans shut down the House Committee on Intelligence investigation, revelations along these lines are happening on a weekly basis," Quigley said Wednesday on CNN’s "New Day." "I think it indicates to me that a lot of people lied to us in their testimony."
Among those who should be brought back to testify are Trump attorney Michael Cohen, Cambridge Analytica founder Alexander Nix, and former Blackwater CEO Erik Prince, the congressman said.
"It's further evidence that the transcripts should be released so the American public can make that choice and help them understand what’s taken place," Quigley added.
"We asked witnesses seven ways from Sunday who was there at what point in time . . . the fact of the matter is if they're going to deceive from the beginning, there's no way to get to the truth," Quigley said.
