President-elect Donald Trump's transition team is reportedly "on schedule and under budget" – and will return 20 percent of the taxpayer-funded budget to the government.
In a press briefing Thursday, Vice President-elect Mike Pence called inauguration eve "a momentous day before a historic day," the New York Post reported.
"Wrapping up this transition on schedule and under budget," he declared, adding the transition team would return 20 percent of its budget to the Treasury Department.
Pence said the incoming administration would be ready on "day one," and Trump has named all his cabinet officials, the Post reported.
Pence also praised N.J. Gov. Chris Christie, who had been named before the Nov. 8 election to head the transition team, the Washington Examiner reported.
"When we took over, I was impressed, frankly, with the work Gov. [Chris] Christie and the transition team had done prior to the election," Pence said.
Trump put Pence in charge of the transition team shortly after his election victory.
