Rep. Mike Coffman, R-Colo., was sharply critical of Donald Trump's desire for a military parade and the president's willingness to allow another government shutdown.
Coffman made his comments in a posting on Twitter.
Trump had told Pentagon officials in January he wanted a military parade in Washington.
Plans for the parade are still in the brainstorming phase.
The Hill noted Trump had also said he would "love to see" a government shutdown if Democrats did not take up his immigration proposal.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Coffman said the congressman's tweet speaks for itself.
"The tweet was in reference to any notion, be it from the president or party leaders, that a shutdown would be productive for the American people," said Daniel Bucheli, Coffman's deputy chief of staff and communications director.
