Trump: Dems 'Always Intended' for Russia Probe to Affect Midterms

Monday, 07 May 2018 11:09 AM EDT

President Donald Trump on Monday tweeted that Democrats “always intended” for special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible ties between his campaign and Russia to affect the midterm elections.

“Is the phony witch hunt going to go on even longer so it wrongfully impacts the midterm elections, which is what the Democrats always intended?" Trump wrote on Twitter.

The president also discussed the Russia probe earlier Monday, saying that the "Russia witch hunt is rapidly losing credibility."

Trump added that the courts would see unrevealed "conflicts of interest" involving Democrats on special counsel Robert Mueller’s team.
