The hosts of Fox News’ "Fox & Friends" on Wednesday suggested that Michael Cohen’s lawyer released a tape of his client’s conversation with President Donald Trump as "payback," for his beating Hillary Clinton, Mediaite reports.
CNN’s Chris Cuomo obtained audio from a tape recorded by Cohen, who was formerly Trump’s personal lawyer. In it, the president discusses paying for the rights to Stormy Daniels’ story of her alleged affair with Trump years earlier. According to CNN, the tape was supplied by Lanny Davis, the attorney representing Cohen.
"Lanny Davis is best friends with Hillary Clinton, probably took the loss harder than anyone else, [and] is just relishing in the fact that he can take some type of shot at the President,” "Fox & Friends" co-host Brian Kilmeade said Wednesday morning. "Not that he’s not a fine lawyer, very experienced, but he’s making Michael Cohen seem to be Mother Teresa. And it is, just the beginning of, I guess, Lanny Davis’s attempt to pay back Hillary Clinton or try to pay back Donald Trump for beating Hillary Clinton."
Davis said on "Cuomo Prime Time" that Trump’s current lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, is "falsely disparaging" his client out of "fear."
"What do they fear, Chris? Why am I representing him?” Davis asked. "They fear that he has the truth about Donald Trump. He will someday speak the truth about Donald Trump. The truth is that when Donald Trump said 'cash,' which Rudy Giuliani knows that only drug dealers and mobsters talk about cash, it was, you heard Michael Cohen ... say what? 'No, no, no, no.'"
