Rep. Mia Love, R-Utah, called on Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas, to resign following a report Farenthold had used taxpayer money to settle a 2014 sex harassment allegation from his former spokesman.
"I think that he should voluntarily resign," Love told Kate Bolduan on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront."
"I don't think he thinks he's done anything wrong, but the fact is, someone was paid off," Love said. "Where he may not feel like his behavior was inappropriate, obviously somebody did. Obviously, people felt uncomfortable."
Love was the first from her party to urge Farenthold to step down.
Farenthold had used funds controlled by the Congress' Office of Compliance to settle the claim filed in federal court by his former communications director, Lauren Greene.
The congressman said he will pay back the $84,000 he used to settle the allegation but insisted he "didn't do anything wrong, but I also don't want the taxpayers to be on the hook for this."
Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., and Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., have all announced resignations following allegations of sexual misconduct.
"We have got to start getting comfortable having uncomfortable conversations in the workplace and at home, and talking about what's appropriate and what's inappropriate," Love said on CNN.
