Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., has not set a date for when he will exit his Senate seat after his resignation, and has not offered specifics about when he will do so, according to The Daily Caller.
Franken gave a resignation speech Thursday after a number of Democratic senators called on him to resign over claims of harassment by eight women. In the resignation speech, Franken said he would resign in "the coming weeks."
New York Magazine's Ed Kilgore said the "timing of Franken's resignation remains unclear, as is his motivation for delaying it."
Franken said in his speech that he had intended to wait on an ethics committee investigation, but he said Minnesota should have a senator who could "focus" on the job.
According to The Daily Caller, some say Franken should not have resigned when he did.
Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W. Va., told Politico Franken should have waited for the results of an ethics committee investigation and he would not have had to resign.
Arne Carlson, a former Minnesota governor and a Republican, said that the Democratic senator should rescind his resignation.
"A rush to judgment is, unfortunately, all too human. But a rush to punishment is totally unacceptable," Carlson wrote.
