First lady Melania Trump cast her ballot in person on Tuesday.
According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, she entered the polling station at a Palm Beach, Florida, recreation center about 10 a.m. The newspaper said she was the only person in her entourage not wearing a mask. However, it was not clear whether she wore a mask while inside.
The president had cast his vote on Oct. 24 in Palm Beach. The president had voted by mail in Florida’s primary this year.
Asked why she didn’t vote with her husband, Trump said, “It’s Election Day, so I wanted to come here to vote today for the election.”
The newspaper noted that both she and the president had registered as Florida voters last year when they changed their official residence from New York City to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach.
Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Wendy Sartory Link said the first lady’s voting went smoothly.
”We had regular voters voting there as scheduled until she came in, then they stopped the line while she voted, and then they went right back to it," Link said. “It was very uneventful.”
