Meghan McCain Says Her Dad Is Tougher on Russia Than Trump

Meghan McCain said Tuesday her father, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has taken a firmer stance on Russia than President Donald Trump.

McCain was responding to a tweet from a CNN reporter, who quoted Trump as saying, "Nobody's been tougher on Russia than I have."

McCain fired back with this:

The elder McCain has spoken out against Trump on several occasions over the past 12 months. He is currently at home in Arizona as he receives treatment for brain cancer.

Last month, McCain called Russian President Vladimir Putin's claim to power "a sham" after the latter was elected to another term in office.

Meghan McCain has kept people informed of her father's progress on social media. Two weeks ago, she indicated she was "very cautiously optimistic about" him returning to the Senate this summer.
