The daughter of Sen. John McCain says it appears ex-FBI director James Comey is "settling scores" in the publicity blitz for his new book "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership” and he should be prepared to be grilled intensively when he appears on “The View."
"[I]t seems like he is settling scores … He clearly loves the media. And that’s fine if you want to do what we do. But it’s not if you are the head of the FBI,” Meghan McCain told her co-hosts Monday on the ABC talk show.
On Wednesday, Comey is scheduled for a live interview on "The View," which is hosted by a mix of liberals, moderates and conservatives, the latter being McCain.
"The problem with James Comey is he can’t decide what he is. Is he a boy scout defending the FBI … or is he a media personality and a highly political animal?" she said.
In a heads-up to Comey, McCain quipped: "Congratulations. We’re all gonna filet you."
Comey’s appearance on "The View” will be his second of the week on ABC following Sunday’s interview with George Stephanopoulos on "20/20."
In that explosive chat, Comey said Trump is "morally unfit" to be president of the United States.
