A Texas news executive lashed out at President Donald Trump after he derided journalists for avoiding Hurricane Harvey's dangers "unless it's a really good story."
In an angry tweet on Saturday, manager editor of KHOU-TV in Houston said he was fed up "with the insults."
“Let's see him stand in E. coli water reporting for hours like the media does," he tweeted.
The response came after Trump's praise for the Coast Guard for having saved thousands of lives in the midst of dangerous conditions caused by the deadly Hurricane Harvey.
"Think of it, almost 11,000 people by going into winds that the media would not go into," Trump said at Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base in Houston, before gesturing toward the press.
"They will not go into those winds, unless it’s a really good story," he said.
Major media outlets have provided near constant coverage of the hurricane, including CNN reporter Drew Griffin's rescue of a man who drove into a ravine covered live last week.
