President Donald Trump is "hard at work" and wants to talk to the American people, including plans for weekend rallies, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who has also tested positive for COVID-19, said Friday.
"He wants to be out there, logistically if tomorrow is possible," McEnany said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "It would be tough and it would be a decision for the campaign. We are trying to keep up with the president, who is ready to go and ready to be out there as soon as he's okayed from his doctors."
Trump's physician, Dr. Sean Conley, said Thursday that Trump would be "clear to go" on with his plans by Saturday. Trump said Thursday night he'll have another coronavirus test at some point on Friday.
"He assured me that there are medical tests underway that will ensure that when the president is back out there, he will not be able to transmit the virus," said McEnany. "Rest assured, he will be in a good spot before he goes out there ... there will be a test in place. The test will show that it's not transmissible. He won't be out there if he can transmit the virus."
McEnany said she's asymptomatic after her own coronavirus diagnosis.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday she's reintroducing legislation to create a congressional Commission on Presidential Capacity, which would be involved in triggering the presidential transfer of power procedures under the 25th Amendment.
McEnany called that "absurd."
"The only one who needs to be looking at the 25th Amendment is Nancy Pelosi herself," she said. "She had a bizarre NBC (interview) and in the middle of it after she suggested using impeachment to make sure that Amy Coney Barrett doesn't get on the Supreme Court."
McEnany also confirmed that Trump continues to have no interest in engaging in a virtual presidential debate next week with Joe Biden, as he would not be present to "hold him accountable."
