President Donald Trump was right to use his Rose Garden address Tuesday to outline the differences between his policies and those of probable Democrat nominee Joe Biden, who has "chosen to hide in his basement" and not make his plans more public, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said Wednesday.
"I think it's important to hear the policy differences," McDaniel said on Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "Joe Biden has chosen to hide in his basement and not take tough questions and not do interviews and not push out the policies he's proposing which includes a $4 trillion tax hike. That means 82% of Americans would have an increase in their taxes."
Biden also has a "$2 trillion energy tax hike" planned that would make the United States dependent again on the Middle East and would give Iran more global control, said McDaniel, and that is "frightening and we need to hear about it."
McDaniel also stressed that Trump is putting forward a balanced approach on protecting Americans' health while getting the economy moving, and he has "proven to be correct."
"Taxing 82% of the American people is not how we are going to get this economy going again," said McDaniel.
Meanwhile, McDaniel said plans are progressing for next month's Republican National Convention in Jacksonville, even with the current spike of COVID-19 cases in Florida growing, and reports that the event could shift to a virtual convention are "not true."
"We are working with local officials, the governor, and the mayor," she said. "We have outdoor venues and indoor venues so we are moving forward and will be giving guidance to the delegates in the upcoming days. It's going to be a great event, and it's going to culminate with the president accepting the nomination."
