Rep. Maxine Waters said Thursday that she is sure that President Donald Trump worked with Russia, and addressed the possible impeachment of the commander in chief.
"Here you have a president who I can tell you, can guarantee you is in collusion with the Russians to undermine our democracy. Here you have a president that has obstructed justice. And here you have a president that lies every day," Waters said Thursday at a Congressional Black Caucus town hall on civil rights in Washington D.C., according to the Washington Examiner.
Waters, the ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, said that Congress decides about impeachment, rejecting comments that have said, "they don't have the laws yet" to impeach Trump.
"Impeachment is whatever the Congress says it is," she said.
"There is no law that can dictate impeachment. What the Constitution says is high crimes and misdemeanors and we define that. Bill Clinton got impeached because he lied."
She also took aim at Ben Carson, the Trump administration's Housing and Urban Development secretary. "Look at Ben Carson. My God. My grandmother would call him an educated fool. Here's a man who has a reputation of being a highly competent surgeon, but when he talks about poor people, he says they're the cause of their poverty," Waters said at the town hall, according to the Examiner.
The congresswoman has frequently been critical of the president. On Aug. 4, she appeared on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" and said Trump is "the most deplorable person I've ever met in my life."
