Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., is paying her daughter more than $100,000 in campaign funds during this election cycle, Federal Election Commission filings show.
Since the beginning of 2017, Citizens for Waters, the congresswoman’s federal campaign committee, has paid Karen Waters around $42,000 and is scheduled to pay her another $65,000 for "professional services," a Daily Caller News Foundation analysis reported.
Waters’ payments to her daughter are for a "slate mailer" operation for the committee that reaches nearly 200,000 residents in south central Los Angeles, The Washington Free Beacon reported in 2017.
The mailers include a sample ballot and comments from Waters about candidates and legislation she supports, the report said.
The congresswoman has been a frequent critic of President Donald Trump. "Please resign, so that I won’t have to keep up this fight of your having to be impeached, because I don’t think you deserve to be there," Waters said in a message to Trump in April when she was named one of Time magazine’s most influential people of the year.
