U.S. Rep. Max Rose, D-N.Y., is signaling his intention to run for New York City mayor.
Rose, who was defeated in November by Republican Nicole Malliotakis, filed papers with the city's Campaign Finance Board and indicated that he had formed a mayoral campaign committee, according to The New York Times.
On Thursday night, he appeared to suggest an announcement was about to be made.
In a tweet, he cited Taylor Swift, who had announced a new album was forthcoming.
He wrote: "@Taylorswift13 is not the only one previewing news tonight. Stay tuned NYC!"
Rose did not return calls from the Times seeking comment. But the newspaper reported several of his allies in Congress had suggested they expected him to make a bid for mayor.
There are already more than a dozen candidates in the race. In addition, Andrew Yang, who had made a run for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination this year, may also file, according to the Times.
And Politico noted that a Rose campaign would likely be closer to moderate Democrats already in the race.
