President Donald Trump has nominated Carnegie Mellon University economic professor Marvin Goodfriend to the Federal Reserve Board and insurance attorney Thomas Workman to the Financial Stability Oversight Council, The Hill reported.
Goodfriend had worked as director of research and as a policy adviser for the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond from 1978-2005, according to the website. He also served as President Ronald Reagan's Council of Economic Advisors.
If he is confirmed by the Senate, Goodfriend would fill one of the three vacancies on the powerful seven-member board, The Wall Street Journal noted. The newspaper said Goodfriend is widely respected and popular with conservative economists.
Workman was president and chief executive officer of the Life Insurance Council of New York from 1999-2016, The Hill said. He worked as an attorney for Bricker & Eckler in Columbus, Ohio before that.
