The appointment of a special counsel in the Russian meddling probe is a positive move for the American people, but the probe should go beyond President Donald Trump's election, Rep. Marsha Blackburn said Friday.
"What you need to do is go back into this Russia relationship for decades and see what all they've been up to," said the Tennessee Republican during a Fox News "America's Newsroom" interview. "They have never wished us well. And let's go in and look at the Obama administration and those ties and Hillary Clinton and the [Clinton] Foundation. What was transpiring there as she was secretary of state?"
Blackburn said she expects former FBI Director Robert Mueller, who has been appointed as special counsel in the case, will take about two or three months to set up the investigation before it moves forward.
Meanwhile, there are other vital matters Congress should be working on, said Blackburn, including tax and healthcare reform, infrastructure, and more, which are all on the American people's wish list.
"The House is hard at work," she said. "We've done over 200 bills already this year. And moved them out of the House to the Senate."
