The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold hearings on U.S. Attorney John Durham's report on the origins of the Russia probe when it is released, possibly this spring, Sen. Marsha Blackburn said Wednesday, while expressing concerns that government agencies such as the Department of Justice have become "weaponized."
"People want to make certain that those who have been working outside the law are held to account," the Tennessee Republican told Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo, adding that the decision against prosecuting former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was disappointing.
"You've got the DOJ with violations. You've got the IRS that has overstepped its bounds. You've got the EPA that has shut down different industries," said Blackburn.
However, she said she does hope Attorney General William Barr will remain in office, as he is "doing a wonderful job."
Barr has "brought an incredible amount of experience" to his job, but he has to do a lot of housecleaning in his department, said Blackburn.
"I think this is the president's frustration," she said. "The American people look at what is happening in Washington, and they feel like there is a two-tiered justice system - they want to see people pay for the things that they have done wrong."
As a result, "Barr has to feel like he is playing whack-a-mole every single day that he goes into his job," she added, "because there is so much to clean up."
