Rep. Mark Sanford, an openly-vocal critic of Donald Trump, says he's not fearful of going after the president because he is "dead politically."
The South Carolina Republican — rocked by a sordid sex scandal when he served as the Palmetto State’s governor in 2009 — tells Politico Magazine's Tim Alberta: "I'm a dead man walking. If you've already been dead, you don't fear it as much. I’ve been dead politically."
He goes onto say that Trump "has fanned the flames of intolerance."
"At some level he represents the antithesis, or the undoing, of everything I thought I knew about politics, preparation and life," Sanford says.
"All of a sudden a guy comes along where facts don’t matter?" Sanford asks aloud. "It's somewhat befuddling. It’s the undoing of that which you base a large part of your life on."
