Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., has endorsed Javier Manjarres, one of three Republicans seeking the GOP’s nomination to go up against U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Fla., in November, the SunSentinel is reporting.
The newspaper said Manjarres was an early backer of Rubio’s Senate campaign in 2010. He runs The Shark Tank, a website popular with some conservatives, according to Sentinel.
"Javier’s unwavering support for the Constitution, especially his support for the First and Second amendments and his steadfast support for the life of unborn children, makes him uniquely qualified to represent Florida’s 22nd District in Congress," Rubio said.
Deutch has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump and, at times of Rubio, the SunSentinel noted.
Deutch represents the district where 17 people were shot and killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February.
The Sentinel noted Manjarres will face Nicolas Kimaz and Eddison Walters in the Aug. 28 Republican primary.
