Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio said critics needed to stop "hyperventilating" about John Bolton, President Donald Trump's pick to lead the National Security Council, The Hill reported Friday.
Rubio said instead those who should "be freaking out" about Bolton were Iran, Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, North Korea and terrorists.
Rubio tweeted Friday:
Trump announced Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, would replace H.R. McMaster as national security adviser on Thursday. Trump said Bolton would begin the position April 9.
Rubio lauded Bolton on Thursday shortly after the announcement, tweeting he knew "John Bolton well" and said he believed he would do a "great job as National Security Advisor."
