Rep. Louie Gohmert on Tuesday said the only collusion that should be investigated is between the "dirty" James Comey and Robert Mueller, who "conspired to violate the law" in order to "blackmail" the president.
Appearing on Fox News' "Fox & Friends First" morning show, the Texas Republican said Mueller should recuse himself as special counsel investigating Russia meddling in the election and what, if any, collusion existed with President Donald Trump's campaign.
"We don't need a special counsel. That was a ruse by the dishonest Comey," Gohmert said of the former FBI Director who testified last week.
"This thing stinks to high heaven," Gohmert said. "Comey is dirty, Mueller is dirty."
Gohmert said we now know there was no collusion with Russia, only collusion between Comey, Mueller, and others in the Justice Department.
"We now know there is no collusion with this administration and Russia, so we can drop the independent counsel, special counsel, there is no further need," Gohmert said.
"Comey testified he ran things by Mueller before he testified, also ran things by other people in the Justice Department when he did the memo. There is so much collusion in the Justice Department."
Further, there was obviously no obstruction of justice or Comey would have acted long before he was fired. Instead, Gohmert believes Comey's testimony last week before the Senate Intelligence Committee further proves collusion.
"If (Comey) and the others at the Justice Department with whom he colluded had felt like there had been an obstruction of justice, then they conspired to violate the law by together holding that back so they could blackmail (Trump) later," Gohmert said.
"Obviously they didn't think there was obstruction of justice after reading a memo and colluding with Comey. They just put it back as a marker where they could try to smear the president later," Gohmert said.
