SC Treasurer Loftis Endorses Romney

By    |   Monday, 05 September 2011 01:55 PM EDT

South Carolina State Treasurer Curtis Loftis, who has strong ties to the grass-roots tea party movement, endorsed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney today for the Republican nomination for governor.

Loftis had hinted that he would endorse Romney, but made it official today by saying: “Mitt Romney has the experience and record South Carolina voters are looking for in the next president. He has worked in the real economy and created jobs and cut spending as governor. These are the qualities that South Carolinians want in the person to replace President Obama and his failed policies.”

It precedes Romney’s appearance at South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint’s Palmetto Freedom Forum in Columbia this afternoon. Several other of the top GOP candidates will appear at DeMint’s forum.
