What had been shaping up to be a sleepy political season in Wyoming now has Liz Cheney seriously considering another campaign, this time for an open U.S. House seat.
Republican Rep. Cynthia Lummis announced Thursday that she won't seek a fifth term. Lummis is the only female member of the Freedom Caucus of hard-core conservative lawmakers.
Cheney got little traction in Wyoming two years ago when she tried to unseat Sen. Mike Enzi, a fellow Republican.
Things could be different if Cheney chose to try again. The elder daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney has been living in Jackson Hole for more than three years now.
And this time, Cheney wouldn't need to beat a popular incumbent.
State Rep. Tim Stubson is the only candidate for the job so far.
