With Republicans having a strong chance to regain control of the Senate in 2012, the issue of whether Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., will run for re-election then and which party he will represent if he does takes on added importance. "I'd say right now if I run again, it's more likely I'll run as an Independent," Lieberman told MSNBC Friday,
The Hill reports.

But he says he hasn’t yet made a decision on either front and that he will likely announce his choices early next year. Lieberman was re-elected in 2006 as an Independent after losing in the Democratic primary. He caucuses with Democrats, but angered many of them by campaigning for Republican John McCain in the 2008 presidential election.
