Corey Lewandowski, who was a campaign manager during Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, is joining Vice President Mike Pence's political action committee, Fox News reported Monday.
Lewandowski got the approval of Trump before taking the job, said sources familiar with the move, Fox News reported.
The Great America Committee PAC is the first political arm created by a current vice president, but money brought in by the committee can only be used to donate to other campaigns, not for any Pence campaigns, the report noted.
The former campaign manager will now have a role in the midterm elections and the 2020 Trump reelection campaign, and will be able to travel with Pence, the report said.
Pence's committee donated more than $150,000 to Republican congressional candidates in January, Fox News reported.
Lewandowski was fired in the spring of 2016 after Lewandowski's relationships with some members of Trump's family became strained, Fox News reported.
However, the New Hampshire resident has been a frequent Trump supporter, appearing across cable TV and authoring a book, "Let Trump Be Trump."
He posted a message on Twitter saying he was proud to take the new job. Republicans "will expand majorities in the Senate and hold the House to keep America moving forward," Lewandowski tweeted.
