Getting rid of Obamacare is an opportunity that Republicans must take advantage of now, President Donald Trump's former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski wrote in a column for The Hill.
"The time is now for Republicans to coalesce together and reform this failed system while they still control the legislative and executive branches. Failure to move the needle now will likely result in a full-out single-payer healthcare system in the future," Lewandowski wrote.
Thanks to Obamacare, "our healthcare system is sinking faster than the Titanic," he added.
"Obamacare is a disaster and promise-keeper President Trump is very close to replacing it with a less expensive alternative that will be a major improvement over current law," he added.
The House of Representatives passed the American Health Care Act to repeal and replace Obamacare, and the Senate is working on a similar bill that could be ready for a vote next week, Lewandowski noted.
The Republican plan controls costs and addresses the lack of healthcare choices that Obamacare imposed, he added.
"The liberals want to go backwards to a time when one needed the permission of government to get decent healthcare," Lewandowski wrote.
Democrats will be responsible if Obamacare is not removed, he added, and "they will be to blame when people are tossed off healthcare plans or stop getting coverage because they can't afford the Obamacare plans."
