Billionaire investor Leon Cooperman told CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Monday that he does not know who he will vote for in the presidential election.
"I have not decided," Cooperman said, adding he thinks this election "is pivotal in the long-term outlook."
The Omega Family Office chairman explained that in President Donald Trump, "we have a man with limited character who has good economic ideas, but he's very divisive in his dialogue."
But in the Democratic Party's presidential nominee Joe Biden, Cooperman said, "we have a man of decent character who I'm not sure what he stands for."
Cooperman, who strongly opposed Sen. Elizabeth Warren's economic plans during the Democratic Party's primaries, said, "We have to make sure that we stay as a capitalist nation. Everybody thinks that Biden is a socialist. I don't think so, but he's got to speak out. He's got to speak out loudly and clearly what he stands for."
Cooperman harshly criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's statement last week that Biden should not take part in presidential debates with Trump.
"That's the craziest thing I heard," Cooperman said. "If he can't debate President Trump, who the hell is going to vote for him? It's up to him to address the issue of law and order. It's up to him address the issue of capitalism versus socialism."
Cooperman said that Biden "seems like a good man, but he's surrounded by socialists… [and] we've got to make sure he's strong and resolute in his views."
Cooperman has mostly donated to Republican candidates in recent years, according to the FEC.
But he has been criticial of Trump, saying last year he should consider not running for reelection if he didn't become "a president for the entire country and not just his base."
