Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley on Tuesday pushed back against White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow's dis she might have had "some momentary confusion" about U.S. plans to impose more sanctions on Russia.
During Fox News' "The Five," Dana Perino disclosed she had gotten in touch with Haley to get her reaction to the put-down.
"In the last half hour, I was able to get in touch with Nikki Haley and she said, 'With all due respect, I don't get confused,'" Perino reported.
"So, there is some clarity at least from her part on that [Tuesday night]," Perino said.
According to Fox News White House correspondent John Roberts, Perino had tried unsuccessfully to get an interview with Kudlow all day, "and I don't want to be him when she does."
Earlier Tuesday, Kudlow, who is the director of the National Economic Council, appeared to belittle Haley's assertion in an interview Sunday on CBS News' "Face the Nation" the Treasury Department would formalize additional sanctions on Russia by Monday.
"She got ahead of the curve," Kudlow said on Tuesday, CNN reported. “She's done a great job, she's a very effective ambassador. There might have been some momentary confusion about that. But if you talk with Steve Mnuchin at Treasury and so forth, he will tell you the same thing – they're in charge of this – we have had sanctions. Additional sanctions are under consideration but not implemented."
