Democrats know that the only way they can try to take back the White House in 2020 is to impeach President Donald Trump, his campaign adviser and daughter-in-law Lara Trump said Friday.
"This is very clearly the one tactic that the Democrats think they have left," said Trump on Fox News' "America's Newsroom. "I don't think any of their candidates, they don't feel very strong to even the Democrats."
However, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for the impeachment before Democrats had the transcript of a phone call between the president and his counterpart in Ukraine, pointed out Trump, and she knows they love the attention, but it won't work out very well for them.
"I don't think the American people as a whole want to see their president impeached, especially for something that I think many people can agree there was no wrongdoing here and certainly nothing that would say, let's impeach the president," she said.
However, she said she does agree that when there is a whistleblower report, that should be taken seriously, but trying to impeach President Trump over it "is a little bit of a stretch."
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state and presidential nominee, has joined the call for Trump's impeachment, and Lara Trump said that is no surprise, as Clinton lost so soundly to through the Electoral College.
"Maybe they should be focusing on some of their lackluster candidates and putting their energy there," Trump said.
