Kimberly Klacik, a candidate looking to fill the congressional seat vacated by the death of Rep. Elijah Cumming, will speak on Monday night at the Republican National Convention, acccording to KUSI News.
Klacik, who is running to win Maryland’s 7th Congressional District, made a splash last week when she released a viral video of an ad showing her walking through a Baltimore neighborhood filled with abandoned row houses.
“Do you care about Black lives?” Klacik asked during the ad. “The people that run Baltimore don’t. I can prove it. Walk with me. They don’t want you to see this.”
“This is the reality for Black people every single day: crumbling infrastructure, abandoned homes, poverty, and crime,” Klacik said as she walked by boarded-up row houses. “Baltimore has been run by the Democrat Party for 53 years. What is the result of their decades of leadership?”
Klacik, who has openly supported President Donald Trump, received an endorsement from Donald Trump Jr. on Monday on social media.
“Proud to endorse @kimKBaltimore for Congress & name her my #MAGA Candidate of the Week!” Trump Jr.tweeted. “Dems have failed this district for decades now. Kim wants to rebuild Baltimore & will fight in Congress to lower crime & help local small businesses.”
