Alyssa Mastromonaco, a former deputy chief of staff during Barack Obama's administration, slammed President Donald Trump over his claim that his administration has done more to take on ISIS than Obama's administration had.
Obama ordered in April 2011 a covert mission to kill or capture Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaida terror leader. On May 2, 2011, the White House announced that Navy SEALs had killed bin Laden in Pakistan, according to CBS News coverage.
Mastromonaco's comment was in response to a Friday morning tweet from Trump:
ISIS and al-Qaida are not the same organization today, but the organizations were affiliated when bin Laden was killed — al-Qaida disowned ISIS in 2014, according to The Hill.
Bin Laden's son Hamza bin Laden is being groomed to lead al-Qaida, according to reports.
