Rupert Murdoch’s close relationship with Republican Ohio gubernatorial candidate John Kasich inspired the $1 million contribution News Corp. gave to the Republican Governors Association, Murdoch tells
Politico. He’s CEO of News Corp., which owns Fox News, where Kasich was a host.
The gift won’t hurt Fox’s credibility as a news organization, Murdoch says. “It doesn’t reflect on Fox News,” he said. “It had nothing to do with Fox News. The RGA [donation] was actually [a result of] my friendship with John Kasich.”
Murdoch has proven his Republican bona fides this election cycle, as News Corp. also gave $1 million to the GOP-friendly U.S. Chamber of Commerce. While News Corp. donates to both parties, it has given much more to Republicans.
