Democratic presidential candidate Julian Castro said Thursday that he would repeal a portion of the Immigration and Nationality Act to stop enforcing a "law of cruelty."

"I'm gonna get rid of that law if I'm president," Castro said at the Presidential Town Hall sponsored by Newsmax and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

He said President Donald Trump "came along and he weaponized it to separate parents from their little children.

"I'm not going to do that."
