A political action committee spearheaded by former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julián Castro is set to launch Tuesday in a bid to help Democrats regain control of the House of Representatives.
In addition, Opportunity First also will cultivate "young and progressive" candidates for upcoming elections.
"We're going to go out there and find great young talent … The thrust of Opportunity First will be to support people who are running in the 2018 cycle," Castro told The Texas Tribune.
Castro also is seen a potential Democratic presidential candidate in 2020.
Last November, according to The Houston Chronicle, Castro told more than 350 people at a political conference in Texas that he "might" launch a bid for the nation's top office.
He added that America needs somebody "fundamentally honest" in the White House, where "we've had too much lying."
Castro, who served as housing secretary under President Barack Obama, ran an unsuccessful presidential campaign against Donald Trump in 2016.
