Sen. John McCain went tit-for-tat on Twitter with President Donald Trump, agreeing with the president that relations with Russia are at a "dangerous low," but subscribing to a different reason.

Blame Russian President Vladimir Putin, not Congress, says McCain.

Trump tweeted just a couple of hours earlier:

At issue is the Russia sanctions bill that Trump begrudgingly signed Wednesday; the president called the legislation "seriously flawed" and responded with a 400-plus-word statement decrying the bill that passed nearly unanimously in Congress.

McCain lobbed a shot across the bow later Wednesday.
