Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn said Friday he's ready to work all weekend to get President Donald Trump's cabinet nominees confirmed.
Trump was sworn into office at noon Friday, and his first official day of work will be Monday.
Cornyn said on Twitter he's "prepared" to do his part in the legislative branch before Trump begins his work as the nation's new president.
As The Hill notes, two cabinet nominees — retired Gens. James Mattis (secretary of defense) and John Kelly (secretary of homeland security) — will likely be confirmed Friday afternoon.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer hinted that the Senate may hold hearings for other cabinet and staff nominees Friday.
"I'm not getting into names, but we are still negotiating," Schumer said, reports The Hill.
None of Trump's cabinet or staff picks have yet been confirmed.
