MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough tore into President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani for criticizing special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia as "corrupt."
"[Trump is] easily the most corrupt president in the first year and a half of his presidency. Easily," Scarborough said on "Morning Joe."
On Sunday, Giuliani, a former prosecutor and mayor of New York City, appearing on ABC News’ "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos, called the Mueller probe "the most corrupt investigation I’ve ever seen."
Scarborough — pointing to charges filed against four ex-Trump advisers Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, Rick Gates and George Papadopoulos, as well as scandals involving ex-EPA director Scott Pruitt, former Health and Human Services secretary Tom Price and Trump University — retorted:
"[Giuliani] will tell you that he’s been knighted by the queen of England. The queen of England would probably tell you she wishes she could have her knighthood back …
"I so thank you for opening the door and talking about the most corrupt, because we certainly know that Robert Mueller is not corrupt … We know who’s corrupt here and we know who’s not corrupt and we just want to thank you for reminding us of all the corrupt things the guy that you’re shilling yourself for has engaged in over a year and a half …"
Scarborough added: "And Rudy, you know how things get when somebody’s out of power. Can you imagine what we’re going to find out about Donald Trump when he’s out of the White House? And you’re out there shilling for him, attacking an American hero, attacking a Vietnam hero, attacking the men and women of the justice department, attacking the men and women of the FBI … Good job, Rudy."
He was referring to Trump’s criticisms last week of Sen. John McCain and former President George H.W. Bush.
