How would you like to hoist a few drinks with Ethel Kennedy, enjoy dinner at President John F. Kennedy's one-time home and finish the weekend with a Kennedy-laden sailing trip off Hyannis Port?
This fun-filled weekend "filled with politics, picnicking, sailing and friends" can be yours, for the mere price of $38,800, according to an invitation sent out to big-money Democratic backers by Rep. Joe Kennedy III, D-Massachusetts, whose campaign will benefit from the fundraiser, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Joe's grandmother, the
New York Post reports.
The gala weekend begins on June 13 with drinks at Ethel's place, followed by a dinner hosted by Kiki and Ted Kennedy Jr. at John Kennedy's former home.
The next day, at 10:30 a.m., guests will be treated to a Kennedy family sailing trip. The invitation is good for five.
However, if Kennedy backers only want to pony up $10,800, they can come for dinner and drinks, but the sailboat will be leaving without them.
All funds raised will go toward Joe Kennedy III's campaign chest, the Chicago Sun-Times reports
.
Kennedy has had little fundraising trouble in the past while winning two terms in the House. In 2012, he raised $4,204,049 and spent $3,869,205, according to the
Center for Responsive Politics, while in 2014, Kennedy raised $2,694,291 and spent $1,629,037.
Kennedy, 34,
his website notes, has been involved in liberal causes "from fighting for pay equity to defending voting rights and co-sponsoring a full repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act. Joe is committed to ensuring that no American is discriminated against based on who they are, what they believe, or who they love."
