Biden, Issa Meet to Discuss Stimulus Package

Two recent foes joined Washington’s show of budget bipartisanship on Tuesday: Vice President Joe Biden and Rep. Darrell Issa, the new GOP majority’s lead watchdog for government spending, met for an hour to discuss shared concerns about oversight of the massive 2009 stimulus package, the Wall Street Journal reports.

“They identified some areas of agreement, including the need to enforce full compliance with reporting by recipients of Recovery Act funds,” said statements issued by both politicians’ offices.

Issa has clashed in the past with Biden, the White House’s designated Recovery Act minder, with Issa calling some stimulus spending propaganda. But the two have similar ideas about transparency in accounting that could be carried over from the Recovery Act to the whole federal budget.
