Longtime Wisconsin Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner took to task a "small minority of my Republican colleagues" in the Senate for breaking their promise to repeal and replace Obamacare.

In a column for the Washington Examiner, Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., called on the Senate to "move forward" with repeal and replace after years of making promises that change was coming to healthcare.

"It seems unfathomable that when the moment came to save millions of Americans from the burdens placed upon them by the failures of Obamacare, a small minority of my Republican colleagues caved under outside pressure and broke their promises," Sensenbrenner wrote.

Sensenbrenner lauded House Speaker Paul Ryan and House Republicans for doing their part — passing the American Health Care Act.

"Ryan and House Republicans kept their promises," Sensenbrenner wrote. "They passed the AHCA — smart legislation that would put Americans, not government, in control of their healthcare. Unfortunately, the Senate could not do the same."

Sensenbrenner says Senate Republicans must take another shot at repealing Obamacare when they return from August recess.

"It's not too late to change course," Sensenbrenner wrote. "With the future of our nation's health at stake, members of Congress, both in the House and the Senate, must remember why they were sent to Washington in the first place."
