West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice threw a shot at White House leakers Friday, saying he was glad they kept his intention to switch political parties a secret.

Justice announced during a rally with President Donald Trump Thursday night that he will switch from being a Democrat to a Republican.

Justice spoke with Fox Business Network's Neil Cavuto Friday and said he was grateful the news was not leaked from the White House.

"Well, probably about two and a half weeks ago we started discussing it and everything, and [Trump] was excited," Justice said. "It was nice that we were able to keep it as quiet as we kept it, because if it had come out, you know it would be just a media barrage.

"And so the long and short of it is, we did keep it, and we were able to keep something from leaking from the White House or leaking from here for a good while, so that was pretty good."

News of Justice's intention to change parties was in fact leaked to The New York Times, but not until a few hours before the announcement was made in Huntington, W.Va.

Republicans now control all three parts of the government in 26 states, compared to six on the Democratic side.
