Former national security adviser Susan Rice's upcoming House Intelligence Committee testimony should provide Americans with answers they're seeking on her efforts to unmask names from Trump's transition team, Rep. Jim Jordan said Friday.
"Let's remember the American people want to get the truth on all these issues … on what Susan Rice may or may not have done," the Ohio Republican told said during a Fox News "America's Newsroom" interview.
While the ongoing investigation into Russia and the 2016 election is "important," Jordan said the matters of Rice's unmasking efforts, and of former FBI Director James Comey's decision to leak confidential memos, are also vital.
"We know what James Comey did because he testified to it, and we know he leaked a memo through a friend to The New York Times with the stated objective of getting momentum to get a special counsel," said Jordan. "I think all this needs to be looked at so the American public can get the truth."
There was a finite number of people in the Obama administration who had the ability to unmask names, Jordan continued, and some of them are "the very same people who are not square with the American public in the aftermath of the Benghazi tragedy."
Rice, he continued, "misled the American people after Benghazi" but appearing on several Sunday news shows after the attack at the Libyan embassy.
"[She] told the American public something that she knew was not accurate," said Jordan. "This same individual has the ability to do that ... did she do [the unmasking] and if so, what was the motivation and how did it all unfold."
Jordan said he would prefer that the Rice hearing be held in public, but as it is being held before the House Intelligence Committee, it'll be behind closed doors.
"This all needs to be looked at so the American public and get the truth," he said, both of Rice and of Comey.
