CNN's chief domestic correspondent Jim Acosta criticized former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders upon the release of her video Monday announcing she will run for governor of Arkansas, Mediaite reported.
In the video, Sanders emphasized her time in the Trump administration, saying "With the radical left now in control of Washington, your governor is your last line of defense. In fact, your governor must be on the front line. Our state needs a leader with the courage to do what's right, not what's political correct or convenient. I took on the media, the radical left, and their cancel culture, and I won."
Acosta mocked her, tweeting Monday:
"Cancel culture? She won? Sarah tried to ban me from the WH (using a doctored video) and lost in federal court. The Trump appointed federal judge wasn't buying her lies. This campaign is going to be gaslit."
Acosta was referring to an incident in 2018 when his press credentials were temporarily suspended by the White House after one of his confrontations with former President Donald Trump. Sanders justified the ban by tweeting an edited video that made it appear as if Acosta physically attacked a female White House staffer, according to Mediaite.
Acosta's credentials were eventually restored.
